I am also a wild life carer which means I help rehabilitated injured and orphan wild life and release them back in the wild .
I also take in unwanted birds or homeless birds all my little friends will be introduced later on and there story's told .
I have been an animal carer most of my life starting as a volunteer at 10 and still it is the single most enjoyable career in my life .
Now that I am 32 years old with a family I have 18 single birds most are native Australian birds and all where neglected or homeless .
I house birds , reptiles, guinea pigs, all of which have nowhere to go or need care , living on a hobby farm let me build and create my darling companions
perfect homes i have many hand tame and some birds that have learned to mistrust humans from abuse![[Untitled] [Untitled]](http://image.wetpaint.com/image/1/5cDQopB-U2LpUaG-Za7VyA311311/GW388H388)

Blue blu story
Blue blu is an beautifully powder blue Indian ring neck he is a 3 year old male I had been given hm by his owner he was plucked bald only his primary wing feathers and tail, head feathers remained he had a problem of screaming and biting when approached his owner said she had bought him 2 and half years ago he was hand raised she told me she could not spend time with him anymore because of her job hours had increased so she kept him in a large cocktail's cage in her spare room alone . When the feathers started coming on the floor of the cage I thought it would pass or a attempt of attention or something so I ignored him for 2 years now he started to scream so loudly he gives me a headache and he really not the cute ,play full ,tame bird he was he just loud ,mean, and ugly now ma by you can do better she told me before giving her $20 for petrol money.
I looked into this poor terrified bird trashing around in his cage wildly it nearly brought me to tears to see the bad shape he was in.
I placed his cage in the bathroom away form my other birds and covered I quietly changed his food and water everyday for 2 weeks then I introduced his cage in the living room where the other pet parrots are but I didn't let him out and left him there for only 2 hours Day for 1 month to let him get use to the sight and sounds of the others birds then I let him out when he passed the vet check ( plucking not from parasites or dry skin) he first stayed out for 3 hours then going up to to 10 hours slowly over weeks .
his diet was changed he eats pellets, veggies, fruit Evey day he began to sit in the sun in the lounge by the window.
after 3 and half months down began to grow he had stopped completely chewing and plucking he was singing and talking to other birds he was not so edgy when he was out he loved his time out and usually needed coxing to go to bed.
Now nearly 7 months from when I was given blue blu he is fully feathered and now has a companion in a female green cheek conure , they groom and snuggle together .
He is now a very calm pleasant bird that is now tame he is well on the way to being well adjusted.
you can see pics of him n the slide show of then and now.

this is blue blu 3 months after he came to us he was completely bald except his tail and head feathers where intact . Here he is growing thin layer of down on his back and chest he had a lamp with a 25 Watt bulb in his cage all though winter when he was featherless .
this is his back view his new flight feathers and some missing tail feathers he is feed on a well balanced diet of pellets ,seed ,fruit and veggies . He is also let out in free flight for more then 10 hrs a day with 20 other birds in constant interaction with both humans and birds . he has started to calm down Lot more .

this blue blu 6 moths after he was first here he has almost fully recovered he no longer plucks or chews his feathers. This is his back view.
This is his front view and sorry his head moved as I took the pic .

this is even better news he has found a companion in ruby the green cheeks conure he is happier then have ever seen him he sit with her grooming and snuggling for hours . Blue blu has been here with my flock for 8 moths now he is now a new confidant bird happy and free.
Gorge and Gracie story
Gorge and gracie are a breeding and bonded pair they both where handed in to my care when the RSPCA raided a property they came from a bird breeding mill . They where breed again and again there chicks taken from then to be hand raised and sold as hand raised pets . kept in squalled conditions the sick and injured not cared for only interest to the breeder was profit .
a RSPCA worker brought me the pair there age was not sure but it was clear they where wild and they had not seen natural light in there lives they suffered malnutrition they where never feed fruit or vege only lorry mix .
there feathers where ratty and in very poor condition there beaks where over grown and generally in poor condition
little by little they got use to been out in the lounge with the flock and little by little they tastes natural blossoms and fruit and veg though still dependent on there lorry mix .
Now 2 years on they are still bonded there feathers have gratefully improved from the last molt they are happy and fly interdependently in the flock they feed side by side other bird species and there beaks are normal now to they have plenty of wood and branches to chew helping to trim there beaks . They are not tame they tolerate my or any human in there flocks space but at least they are not frightened by the sight of humans. They interact and play and fight with others of there large mixed flock which is very funny to see them play lol truly jokers of the bird world .
